From Michael Carrick on Ryan Giggs Goal! Man Utd 2-1 Wolfsburg

ALEX FERGUSON last night hailed another Champions League wonder show from Ryan Giggs.
And Manchester United's boss also predicted match-winner Michael Carrick will now roar into overdrive.

Giggs bagged his 150th United goal and then teed-up Carrick's brilliant late winner as the Red Devils came from behind to beat Wolfsburg.

Fergie said: "It's just unbelievable what Ryan is doing. He has had so many superlatives heaped on him but he deserves them all because he is such a wonderful player.

"It's amazing how he continues to show this incredible youthfulness.

"It's as if he is just starting his career for the club. You can heap all the plaudits you like on him because the great thing is it doesn't affect him one bit.

"He is just like a young man out there enjoying his football - it's wonderful to watch.

"Their strikers were a real handful and it was a marvellous team performance for us to handle that threat.

"Scoring a goal like that won't do Carrick any harm at all. He clearly enjoyed himself tonight.

"We've felt he has been a bit slow starting off every season since he came to us.

"It's not normally until October that he gets into his stride and I think you will see the same thing again."

Giggs admitted his 59th-minute goal - which cancelled out a scorching header from Edin Dzeko three minutes earlier - was a lucky one as his shot took a big deflection.

The Welsh wizard, 35, said: "It was a poor free-kick but even though it took such a big deflection I'm still claiming it.

"I didn't know that was my 150th goal but I'm proud to do it."

Michael Owen, watched by England boss Fabio Capello, limped off with a groin injury after 20 minutes.

Ferguson said: "Michael could be out for two or three weeks, groin injuries can be tricky things."
